Hello, I'm Marios Apostolou. My passion lies at the intersection of cybersecurity and human behavior. I believe that understanding the human factor is crucial for effective protection of Information systems. I'm dedicated to exploring this relationship to enhance our approach to protecting digital environments.
In addition, I aim to utilize cyberpsychology to improve human well-being in our rapidly changing world. As social media and innovative technologies like AI increasingly shape our lives, I seek to investigate how these factors can be used to promote positive change and development. My objective is to deepen our understanding of these interactions, ultimately creating a safer and more rewarding digital environment for all.
My Story
With a strong background in Information Systems Security, I have dedicated my career to protecting computer systems and networks. My journey into psychology, however, began somewhat unexpectedly. Over time, I observed that the failure of technical measures often stemmed from the human factor. This realization led me to focus on understanding and addressing the human side of cybersecurity.
In my role, I’ve been entrusted with training personnel in information security, tackling social engineering, analyzing phishing emails, and mitigating insider threats. Through these experiences, I discovered that psychology and the study of human behavior are essential for solving these challenges. This inspired me to formally study psychology, equipping myself with a deeper scientific foundation to enhance my work. Currently, I study psychology with University of Sunderland, in Thessaloniki, Greece (DEI college associate campus).
Looking ahead, I aim to further specialize in Cyberpsychology, combining my technical expertise with behavioral insights to address emerging challenges in cyber world and beyond.
